Good morning friends! I'm excited to say that I'm now a Wellness Advocate for doTERRA Essential Oils USA!! I've been using essential oils personally for years but will now start sharing tips with you on how to use specific oils for specific reasons. Stay tuned for more to come!

At Quiet Leaf Healing Arts in Ardmore, every massage is personalized and you choose what you want, including the length of time and the area of your body that needs treatment (for example, back, upper body, legs, feet, hands). You choose from the following options: General relaxation like Swedish massage, or more treatment oriented techniques like Neuromuscular (triggerpoint) massage, and Deep Tissue massage, Sports massage. My approach is integrated in that I usually incor...porate a variety of these techniques within each massage. I am Licensed and take classes and earn CEUs each year to stay that way. You also choose hot rocks, steamed towels, doTerra essential oil aromatherapy, reflexology (all included and at no extra charge). Cupping is also included (at no extra charge) but is determined appropriate (or not) by the trained professional in the moment considering the client's level of hydration, response to pressure, and current health issues. In some cases, cupping is contraindicated. Please text me at (580) 340-1231 with any specific questions you may have. Thank you for your interest in therapeutic massage!

My theory about health right now is that THE BEST DEFENSE IS A STRONG OFFENSE! In other words, what can YOU do to stay healthy right now? Here's 10 things I do to stay healthy and thought I'd share with you:... 1. Stay close to the Lord He's our best protection! Pray/meditate as much as possible. Spiritual health helps bodily health. 2. Walk even 20 minutes a day boosts your immune system and helps you fight infection. 3. Get regular massage as it manually moves lymph fluids and blood throughout your system, and helps your body detox. Call or text me, I might know a good massage therapist! Lol 4. Use essential oils (skillfully). I've been using them personally the last 5 years and also incorporate them into my therapeutic massage practice. I will be talking about this more later. 5. Stay hydrated. Drink lots of high quality water (preferably filtered) and eat healthy. 6. Get enough sleep! I like 9 hours personally but you have to find what's right for you. 7. Stay connected socially to others, even if it looks a little different right now. We're social animals and need to connect. 8. Spend time in nature you'll feel more at peace. 9. Find meaningful ways to work or contribute to the wellbeing of others. 10. Seek balance between work & play, and time alone versus time with others. The middle way is the sweet spot! Thanks for reading this and hope this was helpful!

Deep thoughts by your local massage therapist at Quiet Leaf Healing Arts: It's said that "Massage is the oldest form of medicine." Probably because when that ancient caveman or cavewoman hurt themselves or had a sore spot from a hunt or a rigorous berry gathering session, their first instinct was to rub or massage the afflicted area, which would rush blood there. The self-induced increased blood flow promoted healing of the sore area because the fresh blood brought in nutrie...nts and whisked away toxins. If God gave the ancients such spot-on natural instincts to deal with pain, how much more does He give us? And folks, this was before pharmaceuticals. Just natural hands on healing, no side effects to worry about other than possibly a little soreness as your body shifts. Pay attention to your body! Listen to what it tells you. It knows. Given current times, not everyone is comfortable going for a professional massage but touch is a gift our Creator gave us and it's important we use it to stay healthy. Besides listening to your body and giving it what you need, another health suggestion is to touch those whom you're close to (and safe with). Trade back rubs or foot rubs with family members, it will help you both feel better. If you live alone, petting your dog or cat can soothe the soul. Just a thought for the day! I will be posting more self-care suggestions in the days ahead. We covered hydration last week. We'll see where the Lord takes us next week! Until then, stay healthy, and remember to do something for your peace and wellbeing everyday.

Did you know that today is National Hydration Day??? Drink a tall glass of water today and hydrate your cells; your body will thank you because it's mostly water and operates better with its main ingredient! It's also a great idea to drink water BEFORE you get a massage (it reduces the possibility of soreness) and AFTER you get a massage (it help with detoxification). Drinking water DURING a massage is tricky though unless you're more coordinated than I am lol... If your muscles are unhappy anyway, depriving them of water will only make them more irritable and create more pain for you. So do a favor for yourself today and every day and make every cell in your body happier by drinking more water!
