When Jesus fasted in the desert, Satan challenged him twice to use his authority as the Son of God (the 3rd temptation was to rule all the kingdoms of earth). Jesus stood on God's Word to reject Satan (Mt 4:3-10). When He was on the cross, Satan sent Jews, Gentiles, and Roman soldiers to again tempt Jesus to use His authority as the Son of God to come down from the cross (Mt 27:40, Lu 23:37-39). Jesus did not respond, as He was on the cross. When Satan sends temptation to you, he may do it face to face, or he may use crowds. While not all peer pressure is a bad thing, stand on the Word of God when faced with temptation.

Religion says: "I messed up. My dad is going to kill me!" The Gospel Says: "I messed up. I need to call my dad!" Not mine, but no idea who to credit.

I hear people say quite often that Jesus was poor. Quite often, they use it to condemn Ministers they feel have "too much money", what ever that means. The fact is, Jesus is not by any definition of the word poor. Joseph was a carpenter, which would gave made him at least upper middle class. Not only would he have income from carpentry, he would have had people paying him for apprenticeships. On top of that, the Magi brought gifts of gold, frankincense (which was more valuea...ble than gold) and myrrh (which was also very valueable). There also weren't three Magi. There was a caravan. In those days, when a Magi showed up with gifts, they didn't bring you one, they brought chestfulls. Joseph was wealthy enough that he picked up his household and moved to Egypt on a moments notice. Then he moved his household back to Israel on a moments notice. So Jesus came from a well to do family. He didn't start his ministry until he was around thirty. He would have finished his apprenticeship between 16 and 18. That means he had at least 12 years in a very lucrative career. When he started his ministry, he had 12 full time staff a d at least 70 part time he was responsible for. Yes, he told them to stay with faithful Jews when they traveled, but when they weren't traveling, he would have provided for their care. After Jesus was crucified, the Roman soldiers cast lots for his undergarments. This is after he was beaten, spit on and crucified. Why would the Romans want the underwear of someone they considered a common criminal if they weren't made from expensive cloth? "But Jesus said in Matthew 8:20 that He had no place to rest his head. Doesn't that mean He was poor?" you ask. No, it doesn't mean He was poor. It means he was traveling. Matthew 8 happens just after the Sermon on the Mount, and just before the Feeding of the Masses. At the time, Jesus was more than a day's walk from home. Jesus walked so He would be accessible to the masses, but that does not mean he was poor. See more
