Red Wing Ranch

Trip to the city. Took in a morning of the Pinto World Horse Show at Expo Square. HUGE show that lasts for two weeks. Watched Long Ears Division, Friesians and Show Hack classes.

Lady Bird got shoes on for the first time this morning. This is Nate putting on the last shoe. She had no objections. Look at how relaxed she is. #ranchraised

I really like the Mule Trainer Ty Evans. He talks a lot about letting young mules "soak" (time off to think about what they have learned). I rode Rosie a lot this spring but for the last month she has just been on pasture. I worked her yesterday and I was in awe of how far we have come. She asked to be caught, she stood patiently in the barn while I picked all 4 hooves, brushed and saddled her. We went to the round pen and we worked on flexing, sitting a stop, backing and side passing up to a gate or fence. She did perfect. This is the same mule that last winter balked at being led to the barn, would not stand calmly to be saddled, snaked her head around nervously in the round pen. and it took months before she would let me handle her back feet. #lovingmyrosie.

Ainsley rode Lena. Angalene Rhodes walked Feather (who wore a saddle for the 1st time) and me and Lady Bird brought up the rear. Good day at the ranch.
