When I first heard the word "hotspot," it was a few months before this picture was taken in 1981. People who had been on extended hikes in the past were talking to us boys about prepping for our summer adventure, and their most stern warning (other than what they said about bears) referred to hotspots. "If you feel a hotspot on your foot, call it out, and everyone stops so you can fix it." I thought that sounded crazy, but it wasn't too far into the hike that I felt it. And a...s soon as I felt it, I knew exactly what they meant. A hotspot is what you feel just before a blister forms on your foot, and if you don't deal with it immediately, you'll regret it. When Paul the Apostle wrote to the Ephesians about being prepared for the spiritual battle that was to come, he talked about the importance of having the right shoes on. The right shoes represent READINESS. Part of being prepared for battle is having the right shoes on your feet!
