REMINDER BEFORE DEADLINE: If you are a business owner, farmer, rancher or responsible for filing the business personal property for your business, the deadline for turning in your assessment is March 15, 2021 to avoid a penalty. Our business office hours are from 8:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday. The March 15th deadline also applies to the following exemptions.... Applications for NEW Homestead Exemptions (if you have moved to a new home in 2020 and have not yet filed for your new homestead exemption, you must do so by March 15th to receive this exemption for 2021) Applications for Additional Homestead Exemptions for 2021 (total gross household income for 2020 must be $20,000 or less). There is no age restrictions for this exemption and proof of income required. Senior Valuation Freeze (must be 65 years or older as of January 1, 2021 and have a total gross household income for 2020 of $60,100 or less for Roger Mills County residents). The Senior Valuation Freeze will freeze the fair cash value of your property not the tax dollar amount since your tax bill is calculated on the possible changing of levies. Proof of income required. Please bring your 2020 tax papers with you when applying. 100% Disabled Veteran 100% disabled veterans and their unmarried widows can qualify their homesteaded property to be totally exempt from taxation. Disability must be service related (Certified copy of 100% disability required from the office of Veteran’s Affairs and must be filed within the year in which making application). Have you filed for Homestead Exemption? What is Homestead Exemption? Homestead Exemption is an exemption of $1,000 of the assessed valuation. This can be a savings of $62 to $94 on your taxes depending on which area of the county you are located .... To Qualify You must be the homeowner who resides in the property on January 1. The deed must be executed on or before January 1 and filed with the County Clerks Office on or before February 1. You must be a resident of Oklahoma. To Apply You may apply for Homestead Exemption with the Roger Mills County Assessors Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Renewal If you have been granted a homestead exemption and continue to occupy the homestead property you are not be required to re-apply for homestead exemption. However, if you change your deed or move you will need to re-file. Sarah Batterton, Roger Mills County Assessor announces that she will be at the following locations to take assessments: Reydon City Hall Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 9:00 am 1:00 pm Hammon Sr. Citizens Center Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 9:00 am 1:00 pm... Monday, March 15th, 2021 is the deadline to file your personal property assessments without a late penalty. New applications for homestead exemption must be filed in person by March 15th. Double homestead exemptions and the valuation freeze will also need to be filed by March 15th. To qualify for a double homestead exemption, the total gross income from all sources occupying the same household cannot exceed $20,000. To be eligible for the valuation freeze, you must be sixty-five (65) years of age by January 1st and your gross household income cannot exceed $66,100. (Gross household income is defined in 68 O.S. 2890 as the gross amount of income of every type, regardless of the source, received by all persons occupying the same household, whether such income was taxable or nontaxable for Federal or State income tax purposes, including pensions, annuities, federal social security, unemployment payments, veteran’s disability compensation, public assistance payments, alimony, support money, workmen’s compensation, loss of time insurance payments, capital gains and any other type of income received; and excluding gifts.) Please bring in your most recent federal tax return and all other income not listed on the return such as the 1099 from your social security payments. Any person sixty-two (62) years of age or older who owns and resides in a manufactured home which is located on land not owned by the owner of the manufactured home, is the head of household, and a resident of and is domiciled in this state during the entire preceding calendar year, whose gross household income for the preceding year did not exceed $33,050 may receive an exemption on the manufactured home in an amount equal to Two Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00).
