South Tulsa street widening projects in early 2020: Two, much-needed street widening projects will commence in south Tulsa in early 2020. Yale, between 101st ...and the Creek, will be widened to 5 lanes. The 101st intersection will be widened as well, which should extend widening by about 3/10ths of a mile to the east, west and south. This intersection will look like the others that have been widened (similar to 91st and Sheridan, for example). Sidewalks will be added on both sides of Yale, so many more of us can get to the Creek trail system, to businesses, schools, and neighborhoods. Construction should start in January 2020. 81st, between Sheridan and Memorial, will be widened to 5 lanes, including the area that crosses the small creek, closer to Memorial (which now has guardrails on either side of 81st). Sidewalks will be added as well. Construction should start in March 2020. These two changes should greatly improve safety and accessibility, particularly for peds/bikes. It should reduce traffic congestion and some accidents as well. Two more south Tulsa widening projects are included in Improve Our Tulsa renewal (81st, from Harvard to Yale, and the 101st and Sheridan intersection). These projects should commence in 2022/2023, should voters approve IOT on November 12. Let me know if you have any questions.
