Please be careful when buying items from Ebay especially if the price is too good to be true or the seller is new and doesn't have much of a reputation. I have further tightened the credit card fraud filters which were pretty tight to begin with. IF you place an order and it is declined, PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A SECOND ATTEMPT - it and any subsequent attempts will be declined as well. send me an email at [email protected] and I will work with you to complete the order.... We apologize for any inconvenience. Edited to add: This may not be limited to ebay. For now, I am scrutinizing any order by credit card or PayPal where the billing and shipping addresses differ whether or not they are caught by the fraud filters. Raymond D. I checked the mail slot this morning and all by its lonesome I found the second quarter 2021 "The Warbonnet" magazine and "Running Extra"! The first thing I did was check the back side of the white sheet with my address label for a renewal notice. I scraped by this quarter but will remember to check again next quarter. Sustaining members should be receiving their copies presently, followed by the regular member magazines shortly.... Thank you for being a member of the Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society! You may join our organization, renew your membership, or purchase books and back issues at our society website: http://atsfrr.org If you have a question concerning your membership status or any other SFRH&MS business matter, the best way to ensure I receive it is to email me directly at [email protected] rather than messaging the page or commenting on a post. I don't want to miss it. Thank you! Raymond D. Woods, Jr. Business Manager, SFRH&MS

I'm heading for the mail box with a stack of membership renewal reminder cards. If you receive one of these cards and have renewed your membership, there is no need to panic. I haven't taken your renewal fee and treated myself to lunch. Despite my most diligent efforts, I miss one or two renewals every quarter. There is a record of it somewhere. Just let me know and I'll find it and update your record in our database. If your membership has expired and you haven't renewed, wh...en you do so, we will mail the missed first quarter 2021 issue of "The Warbonnet" magazine to you. I am researching my great grandfather William Bross Jansen and his brothers Harry R Jansen and Egbert L. Jansen. They all worked for "Santa Fe Railway" in the late 1800's and early 1900's, with Egbert at the Chicago office and then Minneapolis. Harry worked in Topeka, KS as an "insurance inspector." Are there any extensive biographies of Egbert and Harry in the archives or trade magazines? (What would an "Insurance inspector" have done exactly?)

In Avard, Oklahoma, the Santa Fe and Frisco line had a connection. Did Santa Fe steam locomotives interchanged with the Frisco at Avard, OK for passenger trains going to Birmingham, Alabama? Asking for a friend.

Wanted our SFRHMS friends to know we lost another good man. Keith "Jet" Masters. Some of you may not know him, he is one of Greg Hall's "Foaming buds"! I first met Keith @ SFRHMS OKC convention in 2007 and other meets and train related trips. I enjoyed getting to know him and his wife over the years ....I will miss Keith, he was a good guy!

*********** ALBUQUERQUE CONVENTION UPDATE ************ As a consequence of continuing restrictions which will not be lifted sufficiently beforehand, it has been determined that an in person convention in Albuquerque will not be possible this year. The hotel will be cancelling any outstanding room reservations. An alternative to the live convention will be explored and the details as to what type of convention to host will be announced by April 30th on the website, on this pag...e, and in the second quarter The Warbonnet magazine and Running Extra to be mailed in early June. Your Board of Directors, volunteer staff , and the Convention Committee appreciates your patience and understanding as they worked through the myriad complicating issues in this uncharted territory. Ignore the wild backdrop and look at what was in my mail box today! It may have been there Saturday as I have seen a few posts from astonished members who were victims of the great postal delay of December 2020 and were excited to receive their first quarter 2021 "The Warbonnet" magazine on time! I checked the back of the face sheet, the white sheet with "DO NOT BEND" and the mailing label attached for a renewal notice printed on the back side. Not finding one, I checked the ...renewal date on the label and determined I'm still good for a few more issues. Thank you for being a member of the Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society! I was informed that the first quarter 2021 "The Warbonnet" magazine was mailed yesterday from the printer in Illinois. Let's hope the postal service has recovered from the disaster last December. Using the fourth quarter 2019 issue as an example, be sure to check the back of the face sheet for a renewal notice (the white sheet which has "DO NOT BEND" and the mailing label affixed to it). RDW
