It’s TICK SEASON! Want to avoid ticks? Here’s Turkey Tips for Those Troublesome Ticks 1) STAY ON THE CENTER OF THE TRAIL. Ticks climb out to the ends of grasses, bushes, and trees to catch a ride. 2) Avoid overgrown, super grassy and brushy trails. Don’t wander off trail into the woods, ever. ... 3) Use an EPA approved repellent with DEET, permethrin or picaridin. 4) Wear pants and tuck pant legs into socks. Tuck shirts into pants. (Seriously, this helps a lot) This has the side affect of making you look cool too. 5) Tick Check Yourself Before They Wreck Yourself When you get home, hop in shower and check for ticks. Don’t forget to check your kiddos and fur babies.
