A special organ is visiting the museum for a few weeks--UCO’s first musical instrument from 1892! It’s on loan from the Laboratory of History Museum! These chi...ldren were the first visitors to view the 130-year-old organ today. It still plays, and we’ll be sharing more information about a live concert soon. See more

Exciting news! The museum is currently collaborating with students from UCO’s School of Music and the Edmond Historical Society & Museum to present a one-time p...erformance that will showcase our 1892 reed organ! The organ is the first musical instrument purchased for Central. It was purchased with $90 raised from a masquerade ball held by the Literary Society. The organ was donated to the museum in 1915, so this may be the first time it has been played in more than 100 years. Students from UCO’s School of Music will play their own original compositions based on artifacts’ stories in the museum’s collection. The performance will take place on June 27th at 3pm at the Edmond Historical Society Museum, 431 S Boulevard. Seating is limited, but the performance will be recorded and added to our website and Facebook page for all to enjoy! After this performance, the organ will then be returned to its place of prominence in our museum and will not be played again, in order to continue to preserve our wonderful treasure. Thank you to Chazlen Rook, Caleb Bundell, Jonathan Edwards, Amy Stephens, and all those who are helping make this event happen! Best Wishes, Heidi
