Union City Police Explorer Post 2017 29.06.2021

This last year has been full of challenges. We have all faced many of the same difficulties. We also all faced some individual and very personal situations tha...t made us feel like we were completely alone. The one certainty, we all faced these problems and situations together as a community, a state, a nation. We learned to ask for help. We were forced to rely on each other for comforts, for necessities, and at times for survival. As we close these last twelve months, please remain focused on positive reactions to life’s challenges. Approach every day with a servant’s heart, a listening ear, open arms, and a helping hand. If we all work together towards positive goals, we will all thrive and succeed. Evil walks among us every day. We remain vigilant in protecting our community and trying to provide a safe and secure place for prosperity. We desperately attempt to remain focused on our primary mission and not become distracted by all of the other issues in our world. We are grateful and proud to serve a supportive and encouraging community. Nearly every day someone reflects back to the summer when we had a surprise Police Support Rally. That was truly amazing. The community support and love remains extremely humbling. As much as we all feel uncertain and even scared about our situation. Please know that the men and women of the Union City Police Department stand with you every minute. We remain ready to respond to any emergency. Happy New Year. Please be safe. Chief Richard Stephens.

Tonight the Explorers enjoyed a demonstration and discussion with a K9 Team from the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Baysinger and his K9 partner Bandit demonstrated Narcotics Detection, Handler Protection, Suspect Apprehension, and Subject Tracking. The Explorers were excited to get to observe, and ask questions related to the K9 Team Career path. ... Having active, subject matter experts come and demonstrate and or discuss their careers provides invaluable information and opportunities for our Explorers. This is a great way to see the different choices available in the Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement career paths. In January we will be visiting with very a successful and experienced Crime Scene Investigator. Thanks to everyone for the continued support of this great program and our youth.

Happy Thanksgiving Union City! 2020 has given us many challenges, but through those, it has clearly identified the many blessings we all have as well. Please ...share your time, please give your love and kindness, please help those around you. Today remember to check on your neighbors and family. Times have been tough. Just a kind word can really go a long way. We are Thankful to be able to serve in a wholesome and welcoming community. As we go through the Holiday weekend, stop to remember those who take care of us every day away from their family. Emergency Services, Military, Medical, and all those supporting those operations are truly the heroes this and every holiday. Please be safe if you are traveling. Give yourself extra time to make your travel goals safely. Never drink and drive. Happy Thanksgiving. Chief Stephens
