Oklahoma Hall of Fame Football Coach, Dan Cocannouer, named Altus Head Football Coach Altus Public Schools is excited to announce Oklahoma Hall of Fame Football... Coach, Dan Cocannouer’s return to Bulldog Football. He began his teaching and coaching career in Altus, OK at Southeast Junior High School in 1979. Forty-one years, many wins and several national and state awards later, Coach Cocannouer will return as the leader of the Altus Bulldog Football program. It is an honor and privilege to come back to the place where my coaching career started, Dan Cocannouer stated. I am very excited to help build on the great tradition of Bulldog football. Cocannouer was a 1974 graduate of Tuttle High School. He received his undergraduate degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he also earned a Master’s degree in education. In 2004 while at Edmond Santa Fe Coach Cocannouer was named the Oklahoma Coaches Association Football Coach of the Year. Cocannouer took over the Southwestern Oklahoma State University football program in 2009 and coached there until 2018. He received several awards while at SWOSU including the Merv Johnson Integrity Award in College Coaching.
