Do you feel compelled to write your story? That doesn't mean it has to be professionally published. Perhaps it is just an important word for your family to be passed down to your kids and their kids. Don't be afraid to get started. We are to "write the vision and make it plain." Why? so that not only we can run with it---and our children and the generations to follow. It creates a memorial. ... It doesn't matter if you are a writer. It's about getting started and obedience. https://bit.ly/2WJV7zy
Many authors want to know how to connect with a literary agent. It's a great question. What you shouldn't do is continually email the agent, after they have declined the manuscript, or told you that you need to continue to develop first. ... Agents don't work off of manuscripts initially to get to know you. They work from proposals. Don't know how to create a proposal? Don't know how to connect with an agent? I address both in length as well as what we look for in a training on my website at: https://prioritypr.org/trainings/
I love it when my authors have success stories. My friend, Spencer Houghton is an extraordinary salesperson and motivator. His new book, "The 60 Second Salesman" is a page-turner and delightful mix of sales techniques, motivation and inspiration. He gave it to a business owner recently who called him back the next day, "I read the book TWICE last night. I want to buy copies for my entire sales team and have you come speak to them."... THAT'S the power of a book and putting your message into words that can empower others. Way to go, Spencer! Really proud of you! https://www.62ndsalesman.com/
Are you a writer? I want to encourage you today...don't give up! I know many of you feel it is impossible to breakthrough in this industry. ... Here are some words of advice if you feel you are called to write: 1. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. 2. Keep your seat in the seat and try to write some every day, even if only 15 minutes each day. Do it. 3. Learn. With the Internet there is an enormous amount of information available for free or very inexpensively. Take the time to access it. Study. Learn. Grow. (I offer inexpensive trainings on my website. I know many other writers and agents do as well. Access them. Invest in yourself. 4. Learn how to write a good proposal. Publisher's and agents work from proposals NOT from manuscripts. 5. Always be studying on how to improve your writing so that you are growing in your gift. 6. Read good writers. One of the best ways to grow your gift is to read authors who are really good writers. 7. Write. Write. Write. You can't grow your gift if you aren't doing it. 8. Get into a writer's group that has writers who are further in the process than you are that can speak into your work. Listen to them. Don't be offended if they offer critique. That's what you are there for. Listen. Learn. Grow. 9. And don't give up. If you are called to this, you can't help but write. So write, post, share, publish...someone out there needs what you have to share.
